Organisation of an interdisciplinary symposium on open science.
The year before, my research group won the prize for the Best Research Environment. For the next round, I was asked whether I would be interested t join the jury- which I was! My task included the assessment of the applications in regard of impact, novelty and innovation.
For the Women in Science Day 2026, three colleagues and I organised a workshop on being the first one in your family to attend a ujiversity. Out of this workshop we founded a network at Uni Leipzig with a lunch meet-up every month. We plan to expand this to workshops and seminar on this important but underrepresented topic.
This study examines individuals who carry somatic, leukocyte-specific loss-of-function variants in the E3 ubiquitin ligase CBL.
Severe mycobacterial disease can arise from inherited defects in interferon-gamma immunity. This study identifies X-linked MCTS1 deficiency in men from several countries whose translation re-initiation factor is completely lost, which selectively impairs production of the kinase JAK2 across cell types.
This study investigates patients carrying a leukocyte-restricted loss of heterozygosity affecting CBL, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, who present with autoinflammatory disease.
This was the grant proposal of my PhD Project. It includes all work packages that I am working on their setup and what I will analyse.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s new report reads like a dystopia. A conversation with two researchers about the 1.5-degree target and the future of the Earth.
Last year hundreds of people met at the climate change conference in glasgow to discuss solutions for the ongoing climate crisis-but what is the true impact of this conference? And how do scientists in life sciences deal with the threat to the basis of their research? A conversation with Marta Rodríguez-Martínez, sustainability officer at EMBL in Heidelberg.

In 1958, smallpox was rampant in Heidelberg. A conversation with medical historian Karen Nolte about this incident, its consequences, and how it all relates to COVID-19.
In everyday discussions about the climate crisis and sustainability, we all too often find ourselves agreeing—only to contradict ourselves with a big “but.” What if we refused? What if we stopped falling into that same old trap?
The history of vaccinations is particularly closely linked to a disease that has been eradicated—smallpox. How vaccination got its name and what farms have to do with it.
What do I want? More! I want to exercise more, read more, and work on myself more. And I want less. Eat fewer sweets, spend less time on social media, and have fewer self-doubts. Putting this into practice this year can only do me good and make me happier.
To survive in a changing world, species adapt. From an evolutionary perspective, humanity is the world champion at this. However, we no longer seem willing to make use of this ability, which sets us apart as a species. On the contrary, we actively reject it.
